Got to admit the past week and a half have been rough... TOUGH...to be a single mom. Lots of little trials and tribulations with the kids have really been hard on this moma's heart no doubt. Some big challenges and reminders have come up to just basically remind me that this isn't the life that "I" had planned for my children.
Yet, in the midst of the storms, I am also reminded that I am not in charge. It is a comfort and actually a healing release of sorts to know that I don't have to carry all of this on my shoulders. God is right there with me through all of it...helping, whispering, and prodding me along this journey. I am SO very grateful that I do actually GET to raise my children, that I do GET to help them through their own struggles, that I do GET to be there to watch their accomplishments, that I am the one they trust, love, and look to for guidance. I GET to be their full-time mom!! That fact is not lost on me.
Yes, being a single mom is very difficult at times. I am thankful that I have others surrounding me helping me through the struggles, it makes this mom gig a lot less daunting no doubt. It is truly a privilege to be their mom. I am grateful that He has restored me as a whole person, made me strong, firm, and steadfast in order to be the very best mom I can be, my kids deserve that!!
1 Peter 5 New International Version (NIV)
5 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lionlooking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
