Insightful Post

Just read another insightful post about disruptions.  You should go read it here too...

"These people were absolutely broken. These families had put blood, sweat and tears into adopting these children just like I had. These people wanted it to work. What they were doing was a nightmare for them. They held a belief that this is what was best for that child."

"Cause the truth is that few people are brave enough to adopt. These people were and then it failed and they feel like they failed. They are making a decision to give up a CHILD, to give up a dream, to give up what people think of them.... I can guarantee this is the worst time of their entire life and was not in the plan EVER."

Dirty Word

Another insightful post found on this blog  Here is a preview...

"Disruption is a dirty word in the adoption community.  Opinions are very strong on this topic.  Many adoptive moms say that they would never even consider a disruption.  And, I have to admit that it never once crossed our minds. "

Never say never.

Welcome Home

I got to welcome home some of the newest American citizens this week. My special friend, Sharon, just returned home with two new additions. Such a blessing for Sharon to be the first homecoming I have ever witnessed (besides my own of course) in person at the airport. SO fun to be on the other side of the gate welcoming home these miracles into their family. What a joy it has been to be with Sharon from start to finish with these cuties!

The Teacher

For some reason I always picture Faith as a teacher when she grows up. Today she played "school teacher" for along time at the play place. She looks so big and "grown up" I these pictures. Can't wait to see what God has planned for her future.

O So True

I just read a friend's blog and it was like she was speaking directly to me tonight.

"When you feel you have life all figured out and you are "done"...just be careful...because God may want you open to something else..something that may be hard and make you uncomfortable."

Wow isn't this one o soooo true!  We knew from the beginning that adopting him would be the hardest thing we had ever done.  God made that VERY clear from the begiinning.  No doubts that we were embarking on a journey that would not be easy.

Yet we really had no idea that this was what He meant.  No idea that letting him go would be the hard part, not bringing him in.

I will keep going and trusting in His ultimate plan for my family, no matter how hard it may seem right now.

Heb 11:1 -Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Truths in Disruption

I recently read another blog that really hit home.  Here is the link, along with a passage from the post:

A wise counselor cut through the emotional red tape and pointed out some simple truths. He needed time and undivided attention. I was stretched to the limit. He needed to be babied. I already had babies. I was unable to prioritize his needs over the needs of our younger children. She reiterated and cemented some facts in our minds. There is a reason that most adoption specialists recommend against adopting out of birth order. Children with attachment-related negative behaviors often thrive as the youngest or only child. Second placements succeed at a very high percentage rate because the second family is prepared for the behavioral challenges and the situation is tailored to the child’s needs. She provided a little balsam for our raw emotions. Some children, she told us, just need a transitional family. Some families and kids are a poor fit. They usually succeed in their second home, sometimes without ever demonstrating the same negative behaviors. As much as I hated being a ‘poor fit’ for my child, I knew that it was true.
Dreams end. Hearts break.

Comforting Verses

This weekend as I did some needed soul searching as to "why", I found these verses to help me through the next phase:

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Jeremiah 29:11    For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Romans 8:28 (KJV)
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

One of a Kind

I took this picture today of F since she was looking so grown up in her wavy hair and glasses. Hard to believe she will be going to Kindergarten in the Fall.

The Mermaid

My pretty little mermaid who just LOVES to dress up everyday. As soon as we get home, she is in her room"transforming" into some sort of ballerina or princess. Today she opted for being a mermaid :)

Notice she has her feet inside a pillow case for the complete "tail".  Haha, E is such a precious little!

Double Digit Day

Today T turned 10 years old. Wow, already into the double digit years. He enjoyed every minute if the day, loving all the attention. T has had a rough year with the adjustments at home, but now looking forward to a new year full of his amazing spirit for life. He is one fun kid and can't wait to see what the next ten years brings.
